Anticodon is used to pair three adjacent bases of mRNA triplet codon when tRNA carrying amino acid recognizes mRNA binding site. These three bases can be paired with the codon complementary on the mRNA, so that the codon corresponding amino acid incorporation into a certain position of the polypeptide chain.

反密码子是携带氨基酸的 tRNA 识别 mRNA 结合位点时，用以配对 mRNA 三联体密码子的三个相邻碱基。这3个碱基可以与 mRNA 上的密码子互补配对，使密码子对应的氨基酸掺入到多肽链的一定位置上。
