Background

Amikacin sulfate (BAY 41-6551 sulfate), a semisynthetic analog of kanamycin, is very active against most gram-negative bacteria including gentamicin- and tobramycin-resistant strains. Amikacin sulfate (BAY 41-6551 sulfate) is ototoxic and nephrotoxic[1][2].
