Background

Ebselen is an excellent scavenger of peroxynitrite and is used for the treatment of cerebral infarctions. Ebselen oxide, formed by the oxidation of ebselen, lacks antioxidant activity, indicating that it can serve as a negative control for ebselen.[1]
