Background

Ethopabate is a coccidiostat.^1,2 In vivo, ethopabate reduces lesion score in broiler chickens infected with E. tenella, E. acervulina, and E. maxima field isolates when administered in combination with the antiprotozoal agent amprolium . Ethopabate has been found as a contaminant in environmental waters.³ Formulations containing ethopabate have been used to prevent coccidiosis in broiler chickens.
