10-Shogaol is a phenol that has been found in Z. officinale and has diverse biological activities.1,2,3 It selectively inhibits COX-2 over COX-1 (IC50s = 7.5 and >50 ?M, respectively).1 10-Shogaol (100 and 200 ?M) induces mortality in A. cantonensis larvae.2 It scavenges DPPH radicals in a cell-free assay when used at a concentration of 100 ?M.3 10-Shogal (2 ?M) increases proliferation of isolated human keratinocytes and fibroblasts and migration of isolated human keratinocytes in a wound healing assay.
