Background

BSA control for BSA-fatty acid complexes (5 mM) is a fatty acid-free preparation of BSA intended for use as a control for BSA-fatty acid complexes containing 5 mM fatty acid (Cas No. GC46103). It can be used as a control for experiments using BSA-fatty acid complexes to deliver fatty acids to cells in culture for the purpose of monitoring fatty acid oxidation or similar processes in various cellular metabolic studies.[1,2,3] The BSA/BSA-FAs are acceptable for use with short term cell culture applications (acute treatment to 18 hours), however for long term 25+ hours the product can/should be filter sterilized using a 0.2 μm filter and sterile receptacle without affecting the performance.

Formulation: 0.8 mM BSA in 150 mM sodium chloride, pH 7.4
